Along the south side of the trail, the terrain drops off sharply and we could hear the sound of running water.

The trail crosses the creek. Suzanne uses a stepping stone that rocks and one foot ends up in the water. Baptism in progress!

Another of the gates of the Arizona Trail. This one has no fence on one side, so we walk around the gate.
We cross some dry drainages, After we crossed this one, we hear and then see two border patrolmen that are following the drainage. We talked to them. They said it was a slow day and asked if we had seen any suspicous characters.
Along about here don drops his pack to lighten his load about a mile before turning around.
On the way back to the trailhead Don strips down to his T-shirt to cool off.
Suzanne is fascinated by picturesque dead trees.
