So Suzanne snapped this picture as Don drove south on I-10. IMG 2258-HDR(3) We find the trailhead just off Canelo Pass Road. This trailhead forms is the north end of Passage 2 and the south end of Passage 3.
IMG 2261-HDR(3) Suzanne heads off toward that low pass where the trail crosses over this hills. The elevation of the pass is about 5,000 feet. IMG 2264-HDR(3) As we head up the hill, we look back toward the southeast. What a beauitful, clear day. P1030823-HDR Suzanne gets to the pass first and photographs Don still heading up. Those are the Huachuca (Wha-chu-ka) mountains on the distant horizon. P1030824-HDR On the other side of the pass are the Santa Rita mountains - that sharp peak is Wrightson Peak.

The dam is an earthen, man-made one.
IMG 2276-HDR(3) A smaller dam downstream IMG 2279-HDR(3) A feed box where we turned around when we hiked to here from the north back in December of last year. This is our turnaround point for today. We will head back south to the trailhead and the Xterror. P1030826-HDR Suzanne photographs Don as he heads back up to the pass. He's passing through a stretch of grasslands that is still dormant.
