This part of Passage 16 was broken into 3 hikes, 2 in-and-out hikes and 1 through hike

Hike 1(A) (in-and-out) from Kelvin to a turn-around point (10 miles round trip)
Hike 2 (B) (in-and-out) from the a trail access point we found to the previous turn-around point (14 miles round trip)
Hike 3 (through hike) from the above trail access point through Walnut Canyon to Battle Axe Road (7 miles)

The northern end of Passage 16 was hiked with the southern part of Passage 17: Find both together here
