Valley of the Gods

We drove through "Valley of the Gods" on the trip up. This area is a great place to let your pareidolia play out.

"House on Fire Ruin," "Mule Canyon Kiva and Ruins," "Butler Wash Ruins," "Natural Bridges National Monument"

The typical "first visit" stops. Note: Natural Bridges, although a separate National Monument, is completely surrounded by Obama's Bears Ears NM, not Trump's.

"Moon House Ruin"

This gem requires individual hiking permits; 20 per day are given. The day of our permits started out with rain and snow. No other idiots chose to use their permits that day so we had the place to ourselves. Great day!

Petroglyph Day: "Wolfman Panel and Ruin," "Procession Panel," "Newspaper Rock"

Highly acclaimed petroglyph sites within Bears Ears NM. (There are other petroglyph sites, of course, but not as famous)

Search for "Many Doors Ruin" in Johns Canyon

We chose to try to find some ruins that we had heard about, but didn't have good information on how to find. BLM rangers will not give details on most cultural sites in BENM, so we set out on our own, knowing that this one might be in John's Canyon.

Views from atop Moki Dugway Overlook on the Drive Home

Southbound highway 261 experiences a SUDDEN drop of elevation at Moki Dugway. The vistas from the viewpoint atop the switchbacks at this point are spectacular.
