This is what we're looking for on this first hike of the day. IMG 7002-HDR This is a very easy trail, except for the first 30 feet which is very steep and sandy. IMG 7007-HDR(3) BobsPic-DSC 0029-HDR(3) Where did this come from?
BobsPic-DSC 0032-HDR(3) BobsPic-DSC 0035-HDR(3) About a mile in, a side trail branches off and climbs to this initial view of the House on Fire Ruins. EdsPics-P1010771 BobF comes "bobing" up the trail. A fellow, not of our tribe, is just leaving. BobsPic-DSC When the sun comes out, it brings out the color and striations in the rock, making it look like fire eminating from the tops of the structures. Thus, House Rock Ruin.
BobsPic-DSC 0050-HDR(3) A few petroglyphs nearby. BobsPic-DSC 0056-HDR(3) Not a petroglyph or a pictograph of a snake, but a white mineral or white substance in the rock. DSC 0063-HDR Ed exploring one of the rooms in this ruin. IMG 7093-HDR(3)Cropped1 Bob and Ed enjoying the view,
BobsPic-DSC 0068-HDR(3) BobsPic-DSC 0071-HDR(3) IMG 7090-HDR(3) BobF either has a serious dandruff problem or that must be snow/sleet. It's the latter as the weather patterns change quickly here on this day. It moved out in short order. BobsPic-DSC 0089-HDR(3)
BobsPic-DSC 0104-HDR(3) What the inside of the rooms look like. BobsPic-DSC 0107-HDR(3) IMG 7048-HDR IMG 7039-HDRv1
BobsPic-DSC 0092-HDR(3) We look back across the canyon, before heading back the trail to the Lexas and on to our next site.
