Once back out to US89 we turned west onto 64 toward the Grand Canyon seeking a route into Cape Solitude which is the viewpoint that overlooks the confluence of the Colorado River and Little Colorado Canyon. We obviously took the wrong back road(s) and couldn't advance very far. So we decide to end this outing and all split up heading for different destinations. Joe and I stopped just off route64 and walked out to an overlook above the Little Colorado River before heading back to Tempe/Mesa. There were rain cells (and lightening and thunder) all around giving added dramatics to the sky.
