At about 4.2 miles in and before we get to Baldy Saddle, we run out of gas - and we still have to get off the mountain and back to the car. This is the turn around point. This vista is looking north-northwest. Those are mine tailings and evaporation ponds for two differt mines west of I17, south of Tucson. Tucson is just to the right of the center of the photo, but not distinguishable. This is rugged and beautiful country, but we were too tired to fully enjoy. It was a long hard walk back to the trailhead. 8.4 miles round trip and about 3,200 feet vertical elevation gain and loss. It was like this mountain was uphill both ways.
