Instead of retracing our route around the north side of the ruins, we take the southeast "escape" route down to the trail that leads left to the better-known Cooper Forks Canyon ruins and right to Cherry Creek. It was a terrible, hands-and-feet slide down this steep scree. But you had to keep your butt off the sharp, loose rocks for obvious reasons. No butt slides here!
