SilverKingTrekMap Silver King Mine Outing Track Bobs-IMG 5888-HDR(3) We parked the Lexus at the entrance to the Historic Pinal Cemetery. Notice Picket Post Mountain in the distance at the right. IMG 9704-HDR(3)2 Yep. This is the place
IMG 9710-HDR(3)2 History Bobs-IMG 5897-HDR(3) Celia Ann "Mattie" Blaylock was Wyatt Earp's common-law wife from about 1873 until mid-1881. After Wyatt left her for another woman, she later moved to Pinal City, Arizona Territory, where she apparently overdosed on laudanum (an opium-based pain killer common at the time) and alcohol. IMG 4870.HEIC We wanted a closer look at the coin-like gift left there. It was made of a plastic-like material. Note the face of a court jester on one side.... IMG 5097-HDR and something (?) on the other side. Notice the ever-oresent word, "CHINA" at the bottom. AntsCrawlInAndOut The ants crawl in and the ants crawl out; the ants play.... Bobs-IMG 5906-HDR(3) Another grave.
Bobs-IMG 5909-HDR(3) Bobs-IMG 5921-HDR(3) Did they try to make this resident, a convict, feel at home? IMG 9723-HDR But who is it? IMG 9726-HDR Manuelita Guzman
Bobs-IMG 5924-HDR(3) Bob's beautiful shot of Picket Post Mountain from the cemetery. All of us have climbed this peak: it's a challenge. IMG 9716-HDR(3) IMG 9717-HDR IMG 9729-HDR Born in 1842 in Copenhagen, Denmark. How and why did she get to Pinal, AZ Territory? "Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord." Amen!

IMG 9777-HDR Bobs-IMG 5933-HDR(3) Looking to the south across US Highway 60 toward the Pearlite mines and the ghost town of Pinal. IMG 9780-HDR As we wander around trying to find a second cemetery that Google Maps thinks is west of the cemetery we just explored. This stake i sthe only eviden SilverKingTrekMapExpanded So we drive the Silver King Mine Road on north to find the mine. The road was blocked by a locked gate
Silver King Mine Outing Track Cemetery Location SilverKingAZ An early photograph of the Silver King Mine and it's community. Circa mid to late 1800s. IMG 9791-Merged The welcoming party at the locked gate that blocked our road to the mine. It was a rough, tough looking crew, so we meekly turned around and drove back down the road. IMG 9795-HDR A covey of quail ran across the road in front of us.
IMG 9795-HDR2 What is the minimum number to be called a "covery" IMG 9795-HDR3 IMG 9808-HDR We look out to the mountains to the east trying to spot anything to do with the Silver King Mine. IMG 9813-HDR No such luck.
