We park the Xterror at a trailhead we didn't know existed prior to our driving by looking for another trail .
We hadn't quite decided where to hike, but this looked like it merited a little exploring
We got a sign.
Suzanne shooting the trailhead map of the area
It's more readable in Bob's picture
A little history of the area.
We set out on a walk in the woods
Bob captured on digital, some of the wildlife in the area.
There's an Aspen tree with a crouch - it has the shape of a "Y."

Jenks cabin, where are you? Guess it used to be here.
Remains of the Ludwig Veit Cabin; circa 1890

Veit Cabin photographed by R. Schulhauser and posted on hikearizona.com in 2007 (see http://hikearizona.com/photo.php?ZIP=39804) . Once the logs begin to rot, the winter snow loads in this area must take a heavy toll.
Suzanne walking by a spring house with a cistern/spring inside, probably built by Veit.
The pic that Suzanne shot as she was walking by on one of the many trails that criss-cross the area.
A flash shot taken looking in the door.
Another spring house - cistern/spring inside.
A better shot
OK, we found the 3rd spring-the Veit Spring. Supposed to be some pictographs around here. Where are they Suzanne?
Look up above you. Perused Patterson's "A Field Guide to Rock Art Symbols of the Greater Southwest," but, other than the human-like figure on the left side and the squiggly lines which often represent snakes, could find nothing quite like the figure on the right. So your guess is as good as ours.
Another set of "rock art" nearby.
A handprint nearby
Another handprint.
Some of the beautiful, natural patina on the rock faces around Veit Springs and the rock art.
