We find the Maxwell trail and just begin our hike out when we see these stange growths. They are fungi formally named Lycoperdon Perlatum, a mushrooom commonly known as the common puffball, warted puffball, gem-studded puffball or devil's snuff-box.The larger ones are a little bigger than a golf ball - in fact, maybe they are golf balls.
